Jakarta, PPIM – General Manager of Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Indonesia, Shintya Rahmi Utami, underlined the importance of strong networking to implement religious moderation.

She was speaking on Friday (13/11) in a virtual seminar series of #ModerasiBeragama (Religious Moderation) themed “Youth Activists for Peace Talking about Religious Moderation” which was organized by the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM) of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta through Convey Indonesia program.

“We can’t walk alone in spreading religious moderation. We need to build networking with other people or organizations, so that the impact will be more significant,” Shintya said.

She also explained that GPF was built with the purpose to strengthen the messages of peace. The organization’s vision and mission was that all people were under one family that believed in God, and that was in line with the first principle of Pancasila – belief in one God.

“In a bid to build our ‘One Family under God’ vision, we built an innovative young leaders network for peace and development. The goal is to build the nation with peaceful narratives,” Shintya said.

However, it needed several approaches to reach the goal, including building collaboration among religions, strengthening family values and practicing gotong royong (mutual cooperation). Such activities, she said, were expected to strengthen religious moderation.

The virtual seminar on Religious Moderation is held every Friday via “Convey Indonesia” and “PPIM UIN Jakarta” official Youtube channels. The discussion, moderated by Convey Indonesian Team Leader Jamhari Makruf, also presented other speakers, such as I Kadek Adnyana, Head of Gema Perdamaian Community, and Redy Saputro, Coordinator of Peace Leader Indonesia.
