Training on Religious Literacy was held under collaboration with the Center for the Study of Religion and Democracy (PUSAD) Paramadina, addressing a total of 540 religious counsellors from 9 cities across Indonesia.
The training program followed the result of a 2013 study by the Research and Development Center (Puslitbang) of the Religious Affairs Ministry which showed that the roles of religious counsellors in countering radicalism and extremism still faced tough challenges. The total number of religious counsellors was still far less compared to the number of the targeted objects. Other challenges included the lack of programs to improve the capacity of the counsellors and difficulties in conducting religious counselling due to limited budget.
