REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Acts of terrorism are still a regional and global threat. Terrorist groups become enemies that must be fought together. Team Leader of CONVEY Project & Advisory Board PPIM – UIN Jakarta, Jamhari, said that currently terrorism is a major problem in Indonesia.
“Until now, they (terrorist groups, ed) have been able to recruit new members and there are groups that are silent even though they know there is such a group, it is tantamount to (terrorism) supporters,” he said at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Jakarta, Monday (11/12).
According to him, Islamic religious education is one of the alternative ways to prevent the problem of terrorism. As long as this education is taught properly and correctly, especially moderate Islam. “Religious education is an important idea to eradicate terrorism and violence as well. So far, Islamic religious education only plays a role of 20 percent, “he said.
On the other hand, in the midst of technological advances, people easily access the internet freely. This actually makes students very easy to absorb wrong religious lessons. “Now religious sources can be accessed easily,” he said.
Previously, the TNI Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto said that terrorist groups have been used as a conditioning tool for an area. “Terrorism is very high in the world, even in superpowers,” said the former Military Secretary (Sesmil) of President Joko Widodo, at the Senayan Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/12).
Hadi also said that terrorism now uses a proxy war approach or conflict between two countries that are not directly involved in the war because it involves collaborators and agents. “Proxy war involves state and non-state actors,” said Hadi.
According to the former Head of the Air Force Information Service (Kadispen AU), the situation has become increasingly complex with the swift currents of globalization in Indonesia that are difficult to contain. “Terrorist group internet networks properly exert influence activating sympathizers for the sake of supporting interests,” said Hadi.
