LENSABIMA.COM – Studies on violence and extremism are increasingly being discussed by various parties. The State and NGOs in Indonesia are no exception. The Center for Islamic and Community Studies (PPIM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is partnering with the United Nations Development Programs (UNDP), in the last 2 years working on the CONVEY (Enhancing the Role of Religious Education for the Youth) program, a kind of Program to Prevent Acts of Violence and Extremism.
In 2018, there are 16 CONVEY programs in the context of preventing acts of violence, radicalization, and extremism in Indonesia. One of them is by holding a Regional Workshop with the theme “On Religious Education And Prevention Of Violent Extremism This Diverse Societies In Southeast Asia” from 21-23 November 2018 at the Ayana MidPlaza Hotel Jakarta.
This activity presented 213 Peace Leaders from 10 countries in the Southeast Asia region except for Laos and East Leste. Including inviting Julhaidin from Bima NTB, because of his dedication to minimizing the conflict in Bima through the Social Movement for the Empowerment of Youth and Victims exposed to conflict and violence.
One of the researchers at PPIM, Dita Kirana, stated that these 213 participants were specially invited for their dedication in minimizing acts of violence, extremism, and conflict in their respective regions. “We went through a fairly strict selection in 8 ASEAN countries, finding figures that we invited on this occasion,” he said on the sidelines of the Gala Dinner of the Regional Workshop participants.
He continued, “We have been monitoring Rangga’s progress through the BABUJU Community for the last 2 years. The youth social base movement in the field of entrepreneurship is a step that is quite advanced and not easy in an area marked as a red zone of conflict and violence, ”he said.
Julhaidin or more familiar with the nickname Rangga BABUJU, has indeed shown his dedication so far to minimize conflicts and acts of violence in the Bima region, NTB. The Pemuda Mandiri initiation movement paid off, of course, it became an inspiration for the youth in Bima through the bases of the assisted groups and their assistance.
“I feel proud to be together with 212 Southeast Asian Peace Leaders. If we look at the actions of these figures, what I have done is not much and it is not comparable to what they have done, ”said Rangga, Wednesday (21/11/18).
However, one key thing, according to the man in 2017 was also awarded as the National Pioneer Youth for Food Security, is that consistency and innovation are important points in moving. “I never thought that what I did all this time to achieve all of this. Yach, I just did what I could, without thinking what I would get, ”he said. (Lb.Dhaus)
