Launching of the National Survey Results “A Fading Lamp: A Portrait of Indonesia’s Religious Teachers”

PPIM.UINJKT.AC.ID – Do you remember the PPIM – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta survey about “Api dalam Sekam : Sikap dan Keberagamaan Gen-Z” in 2017?

The results of the PPIM survey at that time indicated that teachers had a significant role in fostering tolerant opinions and radicalism among their students. Qualitative research from the Maarif Institute, which was recorded under the title “Menjaga Benteng Kebinekaan di Sekolah : Studi Kebijakan OSIS di Kota Padang, Kab. Cirebon, Kab. Sukabumi, Kota Surakarta Kota Denpasar dan Kota Tomohon” also showed similar findings, where teachers and school principals are important actors who influence the tolerance level of students.

Following up on the survey results, in 2018 the Center for Islamic and Community Studies (PPIM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta conducted a national survey involving 2,237 teachers ranging from TK / RA, SD / MI, SLTP / MTsN, and SLTA / MA levels in 34 provinces consists of 77 selected districts/cities. This survey was conducted in August-September 2018 with a proportional random sampling method (margin of error 2.07% and confidence level of 95%). In addition to the use of questionnaires, PPIM researchers also use the Implicit Association Test (IAT), where this psychological test is more indirect and has a high level of reliability in adult respondents.

Something is surprising in the results of this national survey. For more complete information, PPIM – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will hold a launching of the National Survey Results “Pelita yang Meredup : Potret Keberagamaan Guru Indonesia” which will be held on Tuesday, 16 October 2018 at 12.00-16.00 WIB at Le Meridien Hotel (Jl. Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 18-20, Central Jakarta, Jakarta). This event will also be attended by Henny Supolo Sitepu, M.A (Chairman of the Cahaya Guru Foundation), Heru Purnomo, S.Pd (Secretary General-Federation of Indonesian Teachers’ Union), Bahrul Hayat, Ph.D. (Education Expert), and Prof. Jamhari (Advisory Board for PPIM UIN Jakarta), as well as Saiful Umam, Ph.D. and Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa who will guide the event.
