JAKARTA — The Indonesia Muslim Crisis Center (IMCC) in collaboration with PPIM UIN Jakarta and UNDP delivered the Dissemination of Research Results Research policy for mentoring former NII, GAFATAR members convicts and ISIS deportees and Piloting Re Entry Program for GAFATAR members.
IMCC Executive Director Robi Sugara explained that the strategy for handling pro-violent and non-violent radical groups is very important for policy makers to know to learn from those who leave by reviewing two aspects.
“Are they disappointed or not with their group? These two aspects can be used as an initial assessment for the government, in this case the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT), “he said when met at Salihara Community, Jalan Salihara Jati Padang, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta Monday (19/2/2018).
He revealed that the research conducted proved that people who experienced disappointment with their group were much easier to follow the deradicalization program than those who had not experienced disappointment.
“He who is disappointed means that he has left the group. Meanwhile, he who has not been disappointed is still with his group’s beliefs, “he said.
He further emphasized that when it was those who left, the deradicalization process to lead them to a moderate direction was important, especially BNPT. []
