The Head of Maluku Provincial Education Office Welcomes Islamic Millennial Training

MILENIALISLAMI.ID – In the busyness of the school in preparing for the Independence Day ceremony of the Republic of Indonesia, the 2018 Islamic Millennial digital content training was held at SMK Muhammadiyah Ambon, Maluku. The training which was held on August 16 2018 then opened four training classes, namely the Essay Class, Comic Class, Photo Class, and Video Class, and was attended by more than 100 students of the school.

The training in Ambon was quite special because it was attended by the Head of the Maluku Provincial Education Office, Mohammad Saleh Thio, who also opened the event. In his remarks, Thio expressed his gratitude for the presence of content training with the theme #meyakinimengharga “believes in Islam at heart, respects the diversity of human beings on earth. Moreover, what is the mission of Millennial Islamic in this training, namely, to provide knowledge to adolescents to be able to create cool and peaceful Islamic content and to prevent the development of understanding and behavior of extremism, is very much needed by young people today.

“Katong (we) should really be able to take advantage of this Millennial Islamic content training so that they can further increase their knowledge,” said Thio to the participants. He also expressed hope that the participants would be able to take part in the 2018 Islamic Millennial competition which is currently underway. “This is a rare opportunity that all of us should take advantage of,” he added.

The Millennial Islamic digital content training in Ambon is part of a series of training held in 10 cities in Indonesia. Apart from Ambon, training was also held in Jakarta, Depok, Bogor, Bandung, Cirebon, Solo, Jogja, Padang, and Aceh. In each city, the training is filled with practitioners who are competent in their respective fields. Call it Orizon Astonia, a short film director who is a resource in the Video class. Meanwhile, Wahyu Arya, a book writer who is also a journalist, filled the essay class.

Apart from providing technical knowledge material on digital content, the practitioners who act as resource persons also convey a message about the importance of teenagers to become Muslims who love peace, respect differences, and avoid radical and extreme actions.

Not only conveying messages, in the practical work-making sessions, but the speakers gave instructions to create content with cool Islamic values ​​and respecting differences. In the Essay Class, for example, the work of the participants is quite diverse in raising the point of view that contains these values. Starting from the discussion about the position of women in religion to tolerance in various religions in the country.
